ISSP’s statement on the war in Ukraine
The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) leadership condemns the violence Russia is committing in Ukraine and, in accordance with the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, calls on the global community to demand an end to this aggression and to support peace, multilateralism, and the lifesaving humanitarian efforts necessary in the region and internationally.
Russia’s war in Ukraine risks severe backtracking on the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The impacts are in direct opposition to the Sustainable Development Goals, resulting in the escalating crises of population displacement, violence against women and children, food insecurity, and the destruction of economic and natural resources.
As of 10 March 2022, ISSP implemented a policy to suspend transactions with Russia-based individuals and entities. ISSP stands in solidarity with the victims in Ukraine and across the region. We continue to serve as a ready partner to our members within the community of sustainability professionals working to restore peace and progress on the Global Goals.
