Call for Nominations to ISSP’s Governing Board
The International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP) is actively seeking to recruit members to our Governing Board. As the leading global society of sustainability professionals, we seek a Board that reflects our community’s diversity of backgrounds, industry expertise, and professional skills.
Individual Board Member Qualifications
We seek candidates with a proven commitment to ISSP’s mission, demonstrating the following personal qualifications:
Personal integrity and honesty, including a commitment to transparency;
Established leadership and subject matter expertise in the field of sustainability,
Strong professional network;
Highly regarded among professional peers;
Proven skills in organizational strategy;
Ability to work effectively with fellow Governing Board members, ISSP staff, and key stakeholders;
Proven track record in establishing cross-sector partnerships and initiatives;
Breadth of understanding of the sustainability profession and its body of knowledge;
ISSP members in good standing and those with SEA or SEP credentials are preferred.
General Expectations
ISSP Governing Board members are required to contribute fully to all Board responsibilities, including: strategic planning, institutional policy, program development, fundraising, and substantive contributions to key institutional projects. Recurring expected duties include:
Participate in monthly Board meetings via conference; meetings are usually 22:30 UTC, however we strive to set call times to accommodate for time zones and the availability of all members;
Be familiar with ISSP’s mission and programs, Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, and legally binding commitments;
Serve on at least one Governing Board Committee;
Participate in ISSP events, including attendance at ISSP conferences;
Promote ISSP at industry conferences and professional events;
Act in accordance with ISSP’s Compliance and Policy Statements;
Maintain good standing in the Organization, including paid membership.
